WILLARD LIBRARY
Evansville, Indiana
I first heard of Willard Library back in 2000 when I was following up my fascination with ghosts (the Library has a reputation - from what I have experienced it's true, but others might not agree). I now go there yearly to follow up the ghost aspect, but Lo and Behold, the Library is more than just a Spooky Face! This Library carries the 3rd largest collection of genealogical data in the State of Indiana... And I get to stay ALLLLLLL NIGHT in it! Four of my passions all in one building. I get goosebumps thinking about it! Ok, I know you are hurting yourselves: 1)ghosts; 2)old buildings; 3)my beloved friends; 4)genealogy - not necessarily in that order. The building itself was the first purpose built public library in Indiana, and boasts all the original woodwork save a few small pieces which were replaced using vintage wood kept in the attic. The research room is beautiful, with long library tables each festooned with green library lamps.

What The Ghost Camera Sees
What You Would See
I confess I have only used this place once in my capacity as a genealogical researcher. I will do the real deal this year and see what happens.. IF I get time. Meanwhile, here are a few pics of the place to get you into the researching mood.

Most of my dealings with the library are through the Director, Greg Hager (he needs a better staff picture), but as long as the Library website is up to date, I'd say that contacting the Archivist or the Special Collections Librarian would be a good start to finding what you need. You can't find if you don't ask/look/beg/bribe...
