| I first heard of Willard Library back in 2000 when I was following up my fascination with ghosts (the Library has a reputation - from what I have experienced it's true, but others might not agree). I now go there yearly to follow up the ghost aspect, but Lo and Behold, the Library is more than just a Spooky Face! This Library carries the 3rd largest collection of genealogical data in the State of Indiana... And I get to stay ALLLLLLL NIGHT in it! Four of my passions all in one building. I get goosebumps thinking about it! Ok, I know you are hurting yourselves: 1)ghosts; 2)old buildings; 3)my beloved friends; 4)genealogy - not necessarily in that order. The building itself was the first purpose built public library in Indiana, and boasts all the original woodwork save a few small pieces which were replaced using vintage wood kept in the attic. The research room is beautiful, with long library tables each festooned with green library lamps. |
